Advanced Nondestructive Measurement and Imaging for Structural Integrity
TECHNICAL OUTLINE
Advanced nondestructive measurement and imaging are increasingly important for quantitative evaluation and structural integrity assessment of advanced engineering systems. Emerging applications involving complex geometries, multilayered structures, composites, coatings and safety-critical components require measurement methods that offer higher sensitivity, resolution, adaptability and interpretability.
This Special Session will bring together recent advances in nondestructive sensing, wavefield acquisition, computational imaging, material and interface characterization, defect detection and structural health monitoring. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, ultrasonic and guided-wave methods, laser-based techniques, acoustic emission, electromagnetic and thermal methods, optical sensing, and multimodal measurement approaches. Particular emphasis will be placed on model-based and intelligent methodologies, including tomography, reverse-time migration, full-waveform inversion, physics-informed methods, data fusion and artificial intelligence, for quantitative defect characterization and parameter estimation.
The session aims to connect developments in instrumentation, measurement science, computational imaging and structural diagnostics, and to foster interdisciplinary exchange among researchers working on advanced nondestructive measurement technologies for structural integrity.
