Frontiers in Ultrasonic and Acoustical Testing: Theory and Practical Applications
TECHNICAL OUTLINE
Ultrasonic wave propagation serves as a fundamental physical basis for both medical diagnostics and industrial non-destructive testing (NDT). Despite their distinct application scenarios, both fields share common theoretical foundations – including wave-matic scattering, acoustic attenuation, and inverse problems – and face similar technical challenges such as high-resolution imaging in complex media and quantitative characterization under noisy conditions. This special session aims to foster interdisciplinary exchange between medical and industrial ultrasonic communities. We invite contributions that explore cutting-edge theories and emerging applications across both domains, highlighting the mutual inspiration and technological transfer between biomedical ultrasound and industrial NDE.
